About Us

The Northwest Dog Academy is a “positive method only” dog training facility, located in the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon. Reward based training is an effective technique based on the sound principles of learning theory. Your dog will learn in a positive, nurturing environment. No aversive method is ever used. There is no need to!

Our mission is to provide your dog with the skills to be a fun and loving member of your family. When dogs have “good manners”, they become an essential part of your life and participate in all that you do. This means fun for you and your dog.

Our specialty is “board and train”. Give us your dog for 3 or 4 weeks and we will return your dog to you with good manners. If you are going on vacation or need to board your dog anyhow, this may be perfect for you.

LYNN MARTIN, CPDT-KA, KPA CTP

When Lynn relocated to Oregon, she saw this as an opportunity to refocus her career path, Lynn knew that this was her chance to focus on her passion and become a professional dog trainer. After completing the program at Animal Behavior College and earning her certification with the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers, Lynn attended Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior and became a Certified Training Partner. To blend both her medical and canine careers, Lynn is a certified Pet CPR and First Aid Instructor.

Lynn competes in Rally and Obedience with her wirehaired vizsla, Ziva, and cocker spaniel, Jake. She has also shared her life for the last 15 years with Liam, the best border collie ever.
